Pocahontas House

Today in history (1608) John Smith was elected council president of Jamestown. Because of the Disney movie, many people believe that he was married to Pocahontas when in fact it was a different John, John Rolfe. However the John Rolfe story was shown in Pocahontas 2 (which was not in theaters) and it is the story we will look at today. His son, Thomas Rolfe was actually our 9th/10th great-grandfather (we are a mother and daughter so both). He lived at Smith's (as in John Smith's) Fort Plantation, a house that became a perfect example of Virginia's colonial architecture and is open today as a house museum filled with English and American antiques. The architecture outside and inside speaks for itself on this house so we will leave it at that...
